XSpec v1.4.0 Released

September 8, 2019

Submitted by Sandro Cirulli.

We are pleased to announce the release of XSpec v1.4.0, the open source unit test and behaviour-driven development framework for XSLT, XQuery, and Schematron.

XSpec v1.4.0 introduces new features and enhancements, fixes bugs, and improves the test suite and the documentation. You can get the latest release of XSpec and read the release notes on GitHub.

Here are the highlights of the XSpec v1.4.0 release (also available in the full release notes):

  • A useful enhancement is the ability to define your own variables in an XSpec test for XSLT or XQuery. Reasons for using XSpec variables can include reusing data within the XSpec file and naming intermediate results for clarity. This feature had an incomplete implementation in earlier releases. For more information on using variables, see the documentation.
  • XQuery support is mostly on a parity with XSLT. Now implementing new XQuery features is easier than ever. Any contribution is welcome.
  • Test coverage continues growing. We have more than 200 tests running on our CI systems.

Many thanks to the many XSpec contributors who made this release possible!
