JATS-Con 2019 to be held in the UK

October 25, 2018

Submitted by Debbie Lapeyre.

JATS-Con is the annual conference on the use of JATS (the ANSI/NISO Z39.96-2015 JATS: Journal Article Tag Suite) and its sister tag sets BITS (Book Interchange Tag Suite) and NISO STS (ANSI/NISO Z39.102-2017 Standards Tag Suite).

This year JATS-Con (9th in the series) will be held on May 20th and 21st at a new location on a new continent: the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre just outside Cambridge, UK!

New this year will include posters and invited keynotes. The theme of JATS-Con 2019 is the changing face of journal publishing. The JATS-Con Committee encourages submissions on the use of JATS (or equivalent tag sets) in any publication workflow, from core production tasks to cutting-edge applications in the areas of: data citation and integration, open peer review, and publishing article preprints. JATS-Con will explore how JATS, BITS, and NISO STS can help address critical themes for scholarship, such as scientific reproducibility, versioning, author credit, and funding description and credit.

We welcome submissions on any of these themes, or others, from any scholarly subject area of publishing for journals, books, standards, and other JATS-based documents. Please visit the JATS-Con 2019 website to:

  •  Register for the conference (closes April 30, 2019)
  •  Submit an abstract for a presentation and paper (Due Jan 15, 2019)
  •  Submit an abstract for a poster (Due Jan 15, 2019)
  •  Learn more about the conference
