eXist-db 3.1.0 Released

March 8, 2017

Submitted by Adam Retter.

We are very pleased to announce the release of eXist-db v3.1.0. eXist-db is the most popular Open Source NoSQL XML Native Database and XQuery Application Platform.

We encourage everyone to upgrade to this latest release. It is the culmination of changes since the release of v3.0 just 27 days ago, on February 9, 2017, and brings new features and numerous improvements, detailed below.

Most notably of these: eXist-db releases now follow the "semantic versioning" (semver) convention; and a rapid release cycle has been adopted where new releases are envisaged approximately every two months. Highlights of eXist-db 3.1.0 include further support for XQuery 3.1 features and improving those already supported; and EXPath Package Management was made more robust.

 New Features

  •  Implemented the Arrow Operator (=>) from XQuery 3.1
  •  Implemented String Constructors from XQuery 3.1
  •  Implemented fn:has-children, fn:innermost, and fn:outermost functions from XQuery 3.1
  •  Extended the Range Index conditions feature
