This is the first of a three part tutorial series on Extensible Style Language Transformations (XSLT). The series ranges from introductory material to dynamic XML development with AxKit and XPathScript.

This first installment begins by introducing the problem of separating presentation from content, gives an introductory overview of what transformations and style sheets are and walks through the steps the processor actually performs. It then moves on to the subject of XSLT templates and an introduction of XML Path Language (XPath) and XPath expressions. Modularization of XSLT programs as they increase in complexity is also covered in detail.
