This tutorial describes a method for creating and maintaining a Web site using Blogger and XML.The XML-based site allows more precise control over a site's look and feel, along with the addition of some features that Blogger doesn't offer.

First, the author shows how to create an XML format to use on the site. Next, he explains the process of converting an existing Blogger site into one that is XML formatted. PHP is employed to interpret the XML of the entry files, render them on the screen as HTML, index, archive the messages, and create a standard look for all of the pages. Finally, the site is syndicated by using PHP to create Extensible Markup Language Rich Site Summary (XML-RSS) formatted output for broadcast via a service such as xmltree or myuserland.com.

Implementing the tutorial result requires an XML savvy browser, a server running PHP 4.0, and the prax.php file from PRAX (PHP Record-oriented API for XML).
