PIPE (Partner Interface Processes for Energy) is an XML based language that facilitates Business To Business (B2B) transactions over the Internet for the retail energy industry. Specifically for: Local Distribution Companies (LDCs), Energy Service Providers (ESPs), Meter Service Providers (MSPs) and Meter Data Management Agents (MDMAs).

PIPE provides these trading partners with a common set of schemas to send, receive, and process transactions efficiently, and additionally promises to be more cost efficient than EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).
