Gabber is a GNOME-based Jabber client for the Linux platform. Jabber is an open source instant messaging (IM) platform that works directly over the Internet, has distributed servers, utilizes an XML based protocol, and has transparent compatibility with other instant messaging systems like ICQ (I Seek You) and AIM (America Online Instant Messenger).

The Gabber site also posts documentation and a newslist. The authors solicit contact from any C programmers interested in helping to bring Jabber to the Linux platform.
