Batik SVG Toolkit
Date: Dec. 5, 2000 Applications can use the pluggable Graphical User Interface (GUI) component to support SVG viewing capabilities and export graphics drawn with the core Java 2D API classes to SVG format, and to convert SVG content into other formats such as JPEG or PNG. Batik is designed to be extensible, allowing developers to add custom SVG extensions, graphic implementations and converters. Several companies are contributing to the Batik project in the interest of promoting SVG as a Web dynamic vector graphics standard, including: CSIRO Australia, Eastman Kodak Company, ILOG, and Sun Microsystems. The project's name refers to the art traditions of the Indonesian island of Java. |
