Metabrowser is a web browser that works with current metadata and XML standards to expose the metadata within an HTML page.

A metadata editor offers controlled input of metadata standards such as Dublin Core (DC) and Australian Government Locator Service (AGLS) in a "metapanel" display of metadata elements and content that appears below the HTML page being browsed. The metapanel automatically minimizes if the page being browsed contains no metadata.

Metabrowser also contains a processing tool so built-in macros can be run on HTML documents in systems where HTML is generated via another system and then post processed to add the metadata. The user can also construct a "Metabrowser catalogue" (a structured set of URLs which can be shared over the Internet or locally via a network drive) by dragging URLs directly from the screen.

This site also posts documentation, a tutorial, and several templates for creating AGLS metadata.

A free 30 day demo is available on the site.
