Netscape 6 is the release version of its Gecko Layout Engine based browser.

The browser includes support for XML 1.0, HTML 4.0, Javascript (ECMA-262), Cascading Style Sheets Level 1 (CSS1), key parts of Cascading Style Sheets Level 2 (CSS2), eXstensible Markup Language HyperText Markup Language 1.0 (XHTML), Document Object Model Level 1 (DOM1), simple XLinks and Resource Description Framework (RDF) data sources.

America Online Instant Messenger (AIM) is also included.

The bugs and issues listings in the developer release notes (http://developer.netscape.com/docs/technote/gecko/n6release.html) document the current level of support for later standards, such as Cascading Style Sheets Level 2 (CSS2), Cascading Style Sheets Level 3 (CSS3) and Document Object Model Level 2 (DOM2).
