Resource Guide -> RDF, RSS, Syndication -> RSS 1.0 Specification Proposal
RSS 1.0 Specification Proposal
Date: Aug. 14, 2000 RSS started out as RDF Site Summary, then was changed (by Netscape) to "Rich Site Summary," because it didn't really qualify as an RDF application, and is now being named "RDF Site Summary" again, and correctly redefined as an RDF application. This new version of RSS conforms to the W3C's Resource Description Framework (RDF) Specification and is extensible via XML-namespaces and/or RDF based modularization. A major design goal is the modular extension of existing RSS through XML Namespaces and RDF stressing backward compatibility with RSS 0.9 for ease of adoption by existing syndicated content producers. An RSS summary is a document describing a "channel" consisting of URL-retrievable items, with each item consisting of a title, link, and brief description. |
