Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), originally founded by presidents of the colleges and universities in the state of Ohio in 1967, is a nonprofit library computer service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the worldıs information and reducing information costs.

OCLC's primary goal is to establish, maintain and operate a computerized library network for the public purpose of easing access to and use of the ever-expanding body of worldwide scientific, literary and educational knowledge and information.

The Dublin Core Directorate is currently hosted by the OCLC Office of Research and Special Projects.
