This document defines the syntax and semantics of the XUpdate language for updating data represented in XML. An update in the XUpdate language is expressed as an XML document.

XUpdate is a project under development by XML:DB, an initiative originally formed by dbXML Group L.L.C, SMB GmbH and the OpenHealth Care Group to assist XML databases in reaching maturity within the marketplace.
