Dublin Core (DC) is a metadata set designed to promote discovery of electronic resources. The first Dublin Core workshop identified an initial 12 descriptive elements common to most web documents, such as "Title" and "Keyword."

The current total of 15 elements provides a means of describing documents, images, sound files, and other networked information objects. A series of qualifiers has been proposed to refine the core element set. These qualifiers fall into 2 broad categories: Element Refinement (qualifiers that make the meaning of an element narrower or more specific), and Encoding Schemes (qualifiers that identify schemes that aid in the interpretation of an element value).

Dublin Core qualifiers have the following properties: Name , Label, Definition, Comment, and See Also. The qualifiers applicable to each Dublin Core element and their properties are explained in detail in this document.
