Creating barcodes in XSL presents a technique for employing an eXtensible Style
Language (XSL) style sheet to draw barcodes from digit sequences. This
eXstensible Style Language Transformations (XSLT) programming example could
prove useful to people wishing to add barcode labelling to their XSL-based
publishing solutions. The bar codes implemented are from the most widespread
system in use, Universal Product Code/European Article Numbering (UPC/EAN), but
other systems can easily be added. The output is an eXstensible Style Language
Formatting Objects (XSL FO) table that can be rendered to a PDF document. An online barcode generator form lets you insert your own barcodes
to see if a correct pattern is generated.
