Source Author or Organization: Onto-Agents, Scalable Knowledge Composition (SKC) and Protégé Research Group, Stanford, Ontobroker-G

SemanticWeb.org is currently operated by three research groups focused on questions which have to be solved to enable a Semantic Web, where ontologies (shared conceptualizations) are developed to provide a machine-processable semantics of information sources that can be used to communicate between different agents (software and human).

The website will be transformed into an Automated Community Portal for presenting that research and demonstrating Semantic Web technology. The research goals include: development of facilities to semiautomatically establish an explicit joint ontology necessary for distributed metadata and for the structure the website, development of a Metadata Creation Tool, building of a Metadata Repository, and develpment of Website creation and management facilities. Other goals include enabling a declarative ontology-based description of the Community Portal and automating the efficient creation of XML-based pages.
