XHTML Events

Working Draft

Date: Jun. 8, 2001

Source Author or Organization: W3C

This Working Draft (subtitled "An updated events syntax for XHTML and friends") is co-authored by the HTML Activity Working Group and SYMM Working Group.

The XHTML Events provides an updated syntax used to "attach" to the semantics used by the DOM Level 2 Event Model and was designed specifically to be used in conjunction with XHTML modules and SMIL modules.

The XHTML Events event syntax module allows an XHTML host language to integrate behaviors with events as defined in Document Object Model Level 2 (DOM2). This gives XHTML based languages a mechanism for associating behaviors with markup.

This document also defines XHTML language event types, and describes a subset of XHTML Events for simpler applications and mobile devices known as the XHTML Basic Events Module.
