Ruby Annotation

The Ruby specification extends XHTML to support "ruby text". Ruby text is a run of text that appears in the vacinity of another run of text, called "base text". Ruby text serves as either a pronounciation guide or an annotation mechanism. Ruby text requires markup in order to define the association between base text and ruby text. Such markup is defined in XML in such a way that can be usable with HTML.
