This is the home page for the Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL),
formerly code-named XFRML, which provides a standards-based method to describe
financial statements to meet the needs of investors and other users of financial
information by providing fast, accurate, reliable information to help them make
informed financial decisions. The XML financial reporting specification created
by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and over 30
other financial organizations enables all users of the financial information
supply chain (public and private companies, the accounting profession,
regulators, analysts, the investment community, capital markets and lenders) to
prepare, publish, exchange and analyze financial statements and the information
they contain.
