Google Comprehensive Wireless Search Engine

Date: May. 15, 2000

Source Author or Organization: Google, Inc.

The beta version of the Google Comprehensive Wireless Search Engine is online. Google is aiming the new service at a rapidly expanding base of WAP mobile telephone, Palm and other wireless users frustrated that less than one percent of websites are currently available in Wireless Markup Language (WML). Rather than indexing only web pages that are available in WML, Google's technology translates any requested HTML document into WML on the fly. It also allows mobile uses to view and browse any HTML site. Wireless users can enter "Google" or "http://www.google.com/" into their WAP microbrowsers to access the search engine. Palm users can enter "http://www.google.com/palm".
