White paper for SyncML, a proposed industry-wide common data synchronization protocol in response to the proliferation of different, proprietary data synchronization protocols for mobile devices. The SyncML Initiative, joined by 167 companies so far (including Ericsson, IBM, Lotus, Motorola, Nokia Inc., Nokia Mobile Phones, Palm Inc., Psion PLC, and Starfish Software), expects to release the SycnML open protocol for data synchronization in mid 2000.
