Priscilla Walmsley served as a member of the W3C XML Schema Working Group from 1999 to 2004, where she authored the second edition of XML Schema Part 0 (Primer). She's also the author ofDefinitive XML Schema for Prentice Hall, which has the reputation as being the industry's best book available about XML Schemas in the industry. She's also worked as an observer the XML Query Working Group for two years and has written another book, Definitive XQuery, which will be published in 2006 when the XQuery 1.0 specification is finalized. Currently, Ms. Walmsley is the Managing Director of Datypic where she specializes in XML- and SOA-related consulting and training. Stylus Studio is a widely-used XML IDE for XML data integration, providing tools support for XQuery development, including XQuery editing, mapping, debugging, and performance profiling. Ivan Pedruzzi, Stylus StudioŽ's Senior Product Architect, and editor of the Stylus Scoop XML newsletter, recently interviewed Ms. Walmsley at an XML conference, where Ms. Walmsley gave a presentation which provided an Introduction to XQuery. The interview covered the following topics:
