OASIS Catalogs

OASIS XML catalogs are useful for redirecting a request for a certain resource from one location to another. Typically, they are used so that XML schemas or DTD modules that are on some remote machine can instead be referenced locally, either for performance or necessity (e.g. use when not connected). "Catalogs for Fun and Profit" is an OASIS Catalog Tutorial that covers the in's and out's of using XML catalogs to simplify working with industry standard XML data models using the OASIS catalog support in Stylus Studio. This tutorial covers the following topics:

  • Understanding OASIS Catalogs
  • A Use-Case for Catalogs: How to use OASIS Catalogs Effectively
  • Registering OASIS Catalogs in a Project
  • The syntax for using OASIS Catalogs (i.e. the required DTD DOCTYPE Syntax)
  • Navigating Catalogs in projects involving 2 or more OASIS Catalogs
  • Creating your own, customized composite XML Catalogs
  • Working with industry standard XML schemas and DTD's including DocBook, DITA, CSTA, CXML, Daisy, etc.
  • Converting TR9401 Catalogs to OASIS XML Catalogs
  • Many other advanced topics
