TM4J is a Java-based topic map engine that provides a suite of tools for creating, editing and deploying topic maps. The Hibernate back end in this version adds persistent storage and supports a wide range of databases, including Oracle 8, Oracle 9i and MySQL. The toolkit also supplies an Ontopia tolog query language implementation.

TM4J gives developers programming utility classes and a suite of command line tools for working with topic map data. XML Topic Maps (XTM) and Linear Topic Map Notation (LTM) are supported.

The TM4J distribution is released under an open source Apache license.
