Trang is a Java-based schema converter that translates between different XML schema languages.

Supported languages include Regular Language Description for XML Next Generation (RELAX NG) XML syntax, RELAX NG compact syntax, XML 1.0 Document Type Definition (DTD) and W3C XML Schema (XSD). The program is designed to produce human-understandable schemas.

A new module based on Clark's DTDinst allows direct translation from DTD to XSD. Trang is namespace-aware (including support for DTDs that mix multiple namespaces) and utilizes features such as substitution groups when generating XSDs. This site provides links to the Trang manual, binary and source code. Trang requires a Java Runtime Environment and is distributed under a BSD-style license.
