Bioinformatic Sequence Markup Language (BSML)is a public domain XML application for bioinformatic data originally developed by Visual Genomics, now merged with LabBook, under a grant from the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) to fund a public standard for bioinformatics. BSML provides a management tool, visualization interface and container for sequences and other bioinformatic data. BSML may be used in combination with LabBook's Genomic XML Viewer (free to the scientific community) or Genomic Browser to provide a single document interface to all project data.

This page links to the BSML Document Type Definition (DTD) in annotation, no annotation and data only (for use with Viewer or Browser) versions and to the XEMBL public server for accessing European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) sequence data is BSML format.
