Refactoring RDF/XML Syntax

This document gives a detailed description of changes to the XML syntax grammar of the Resource Description Framework (RDF) model, as originally specified in RDF Model & Syntax. Confusion caused by RDF container syntax ambiguity has been addressed by a decision that containers will match the typed node production and container-specific productions (and references to them) will be removed from the grammar.

Before the model is complete, the need for a precise method for defining which RDF statements are added to the model for each syntax production may require the formalization of technologies such as REgular LAnguage description for XML (RELAX), Regular Language Description for XML Next Generation (RELAX NG), Schematron and/or Tree Regular Expressions for XML (TREX) to automate the process.
