The XEMBL Web service, which makes European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) Nucleotide Sequence data from the EMBL/GenBank/DNA Data Bank of Japan (DDBJ) database available, is running on salcentral Web services brokerage (free registration required). The database is maintained by the European Bioinformatics Institute.

The XEMBL Project is tasked with bringing the nucleotide sequences to the public in a variety of formats. The Project site offers links for the XEMBL Web Services Definition Language (WSDL) file and clients in Perl and Java GLUE. Also provided are links to the Bioinformatic Sequence Markup Language (BSML) and Architecture for Genomic Annotation, Visualization and Exchange (AGAVE) Document Type Definitions (DTDs) and genomic viewers.
