This is the first release of a
Microsoft Java environment since the settlement
that ended distribution of Visual J++.
Visual J# NET opens the world of NET applications and Web services
to programmers familiar with Java syntax and provides a migration path for J++
programmers. Developers have reported successful migration of existing Java projects to J#
via a few modifications. J# applications do not run on a Java Virtual Machine. Visual
Studio NET (Beta2 or later) and Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional are required.
