This page provides a technical overview of 4Suite Server (4SS), a.k.a. 4Suite Python XML Server, which builds on the 4Suite collection of Python tools for XML processing and database management to provide a framework for XML application development.

The 4SS Core library exposes a set of Python Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for processing and storing XML documents and Resource Description Framework (RDF) metadata, and also supports open standard protocol handlers for Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), World Wide Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) and Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA).

The overview page links to instructions for installation under UNIX and Windows, a Quick Start Guide, a Configuration Guide, CORE API documentation, mailing lists, and programmers' guides for HTTP, SOAP, WebDAV, CORBA and the Core.

4SS requires omniORB and 4Suite, and is distributed under an open source Apache-like license.
