The practice of peer-to-peer computing: The P2P application framework
Date: May. 25, 2001 First a sample P2P application, "the world's simplest peer", is downloaded in the form of two .jar files and a configuration file. The reader learns to install the application from the .jar files, get the application up and running, and configure the application using the configuration file. The process is described for both Windows and a UNIX variant. Next the important classes comprising the application are examined and their functions described, with special attention to a simple Simple Point-to-Point (SPP) communication package providing the implementation of communication between peers. Using the software to follow along with the tutorial requires Windows or a UNIX varient running a Java virtual machine. |
