This document lists new features introduced in the Microsoft XML Parser 4.0 (MSXML 4.0) Technology Preview, and provides a download link.

This version of MSXML offers: support for the March 30, 2001 XML Schema recommendation including the ability to use XML Schema to validate XML documents in the Document Object Model (DOM), XML schema support for XML Schema Definition (XSD) language, the ability to validate XSD in the DOM, extension functions providing XSD support in XML Path Language (XPath) and Extensible Style Language Transformations (XSLT), Simple Application Programming Interface for XML 2.0 (SAX2) -based support for sequential XML processing architectures (providing SAX/DOM integration features such as SAX-to-DOM and DOM-to-SAX conversions and HTML generation from SAX event streams), the SaxAppWizard utility for building C++ SAX applications (also available as a separate download), and a new object for manually tracking and resolving namespace declarations. Document Type Definition (DTD) and XML-Data Reduced (XDR) validations are also supported.

MSXML 4.0 requires Windows 98/Me/NT 4.0/2000, and Internet Explorer 4.01 with Service Pack 1 or later. Windows 95 may be used if Windows Installer is updated to 1.1 before installing MSXML 4.0. Some features are only available with Internet Explorer 5.01 or later installed.
