Overview

Select is an ideal tool for extracting information from XML documents and saving that information into relational databases.

Select is based on the XPath specification and provides thus a declarative way of extracting XML based information.

Select uses two separate files:

1. an XML document
2. a configuration file

The configuration file consists of SQL statements that can embed XPath expressions. The evaluation of Select results in a set of SQL statements with XPath expressions replaced by their evaluation results.

The statements produced by Select are ready to go to a database engine through an interface such as the DBI.

Typical Applications: Database applications that require XML import functionality

Availability: Available for all platforms where Java virtual machine has been ported.
