GTrader is a web based application development environment that brings "rapid application development" to the web. GTrader itself is built upon the established .NET framework and uses SQL Server. GTrader allows web applications to be built from pre-defined templates thus dramatically reducing the development time and cost compared to the traditional approach of building applications from scratch. The real power of GTrader comes from the use of XML to store free-form data alongside the traditional relational data stored in tables. This feature is particularly useful to organisations that need to exchange data or interact with mobile phone message systems. GTrader contains its own XML/XSL formatting engine enabling XML data to be displayed in HTML format within web pages. The administration user interface uses a series of platform independent HTML forms based web pages for setting up and maintaining each application. One of the templates supplied with GTrader contains a set of database tables and web pages designed for creating an on-line store. A fully functional web application can be created using the template as a starting point. Once the application has been built, then it is simply a matter of customising the page layout and graphics to suit the corporate image or type of product being sold. GTrader is aimed both at non-technical web site designers and application developers. Other features of GTrader include multi-language support through Unicode and a comprehensive developer's suite.
