Overview

A complete document and content management system for XML, SGML, and CGM as well as for any other document formats. It permits a particularly fast and versatile solution development and is based on relational database technology. Its architecture and implementation are particularly suited for Internet applications. All functions can be performed to any partial documents.

Translation and version management, re-use of document contents, powerful script language as well as WWW generation components are included in the standard scope of delivery. A workflow component is available as an option.

eidonXbase stores and maintains XML and SGML text as well as CGM4 graphics in the form of disassembled data records in a relational SQL database, thus enabling an extremely fast access at any level of precision. Other documents are maintained through the same database, but stored in a special area of the file system.

eidonXbase has been designed completely as a Java application in an advanced 3-tier architecture, i.e. it is fully Internet-capable. The database is addressed via JDBC/ODBC. eidonXbase provides full conformity to standards (eg. HyTime, XSL, XQL) and can be run on almost any platform (hardware, operating system, SQL database). It makes optimum use of the properties of relational databases and is thus a very fast and highly scalable solution. The fact that it is based on proven SQL technology facilitates integration in the corporate DP considerably.

Availability: eidonXbase server(s) and clients run on any system that supports Java, including Windows95/98/NT, Sun Solaris, and HP-UX. eidonXbase works on top of any SQL-database, including Oracle, Informix, MS SQLServer, and MS Access.
