NexTrieve

Version: 2.0
Company: Nexial Systems

Overview

NexTrieve features:

  • fuzzy _and_ exact searching (all words, any words)
  • specification of words that may _not_ occur
  • 10's of GBs can be searched in a single index
  • no special hardware necessary, a normal PC is sufficient
  • support for attributes associated with each document
  • search query refinement by specification of attribute constraints
  • support for separate fields in each document
  • field specific searching through each document
  • search result with previews
  • search results with attributes associated to document
  • strong fuzzy context aids searches such as "to be or not to be"
  • support for XML facilitates integration into other systems
  • support for Unicode for (natural) language independence
  • support for relational databases with DBI, such as Mysql, Oracle, Sybase
  • support for website search engines
  • support for email and mailinglist search engines
  • incremental indexing: only new documents added
  • "multi-threaded/pipelining" support for performance
  • "load balancing" support for heavily used machines
Through the use of constraints it is possible to modify textual searches, such as "only after date X", or "in the FAQ only", or "only in email sent to me by X", or "all email except those sent by X" or whatever you can come up with. Constraints can also be used to ensure that users can only search that data to which their access level allows them to.

Because of the use of XML, NexTrieve can be easily integrated into other systems, especially if these systems are already using XML. Legacy systems can also integrate NexTrieve through the use of simple XML filters, examples of which are available in the package.

Because of the use of Unicode, NexTrieve is not limited to languages that use ASCII characters only: in all languages that are supported by Unicode (and that currently includes virtually all languages of the world), NexTrieve is capable of searching _and_ finding results. By a smart use of the properties of Unicode, it is possible to find the word "élève" (with accents) by searching for the word "eleve" (without accents), which significantly increases the chance of finding the right content, especially in foreign languages.

In tests it has proven to be possible to index 10 GByte of XML, generated from HTML-pages, in 45 minutes on a PC (1.7 GHz Pentium with 1 GByte of RAM and IDE disks).

The search engine software is available for (free) download from the website:

All of the documentation for NexTrieve can also be found there.

The search engine software can be evaluated freely for 1 month. If you would like to continue to make use of NexTrieve after that period for a non-commercoal goal, it is possible to use the free "NexTrieve Free" license. In all other cases, the "NexTrieve Search" license should be purchased, which is available for 495 Euro (approximately 430 US$). With such a license, you get the unlimited usage of the NexTrieve software on 1 server (regardless of speed, amount of data indexed or number of CPU's) plus 3 months of free upgrades.

Typical Applications: Searching any (XML) content, web-sites, databases, mailinglists, any content that can be expressed a
