Overview
An XML text editor, XED is intended for technical users who want to hand-edit XML documents. Its keyboarding features are its biggest strength, which speed up input if you know what you are doing. Both xxxPAD- and emacs-style keybindings are available.
XED enforces well-formedness, keeping the user from making syntactical mistakes in an XML document. You can view, but not edit, your DTD; conformity to the DTD (validation) is not enforced.

Availability: The beta version of XED is available for Windows 95/98/NT and Solaris 2.5, FreeBSD and Linux.
