GEM

Version: 2.0
Company: X.Systems, Inc.

Overview

GEM (Global Event Manager) is a content management system designed to provide high control and visibility with minimum complexity and cost. GEM uses a workgroup model to support collaboration among group members, controlled communication with other groups and support of both remote groups and remote users.

GEM provides a flexible workflow approach based on a matrix of files, functions and privileges. If required, GEM may also be integrated with Staffware software for tighter workflow control. GEM can be configured for mixed data types including SGML/XML, images, WP, etc. With SGML or XML data, the system leverages the contents of data files to enhance management and status monitoring.

GEM supports control of external processes via a comprehensive event monitor that can, when stored conditions are satisfied, be configured to trigger "Event Dependent Processes" or EDPs written in a range of languages. This unique function allows a high degree of functional customization without extensive programming.

GEM integrates well with other software components, especially the EPIC family of XML/SGML editors from Arbortext.

Typical Applications: GEM is normally used in a high-activity work in process environment based on SGML or XML data.

Availability: GEM is available for UNIX, Linux, Windows 95, 98 and NT (server processes.) Clients may be UNIX or any Windows version.
