Data Harmony

Version: 1.0
Company: Data Harmony, Inc.

Overview

This is a new entry into the document-management arena, announced Nov. 3, 1998. Aimed at reference publishers and libraries managing full-text and bibliographic databases, the system augments the usual editorial support with a natural language processor for indexing and a thesaurus for application of a general term thesaurus or a specialized controlled vocabulary. Data Harmony has three components:
  1. XML Intranet System (XIS) for document entry, editing, and viewing;
  2. Machine-Aided Indexer (MAI), an NLP tool that assigns indexing terms to individual documents; and
  3. Thesaurus Master for maintenance of a full thesaurus or a controlled vocabulary.

Typical Applications: Reference publishers, libraries

Availability: DOS environments as well as Unix, Linux, Solaris, and Windows 95, 98 and NT platforms. Data Harmony runs on any system that supports Java. Clients include any Java 1.1.5-enabled browser. Clients and servers can run on different operating systems without negative impact on the utility of the software.

Product was launched November 1998.
