Visual XML
Version: beta
Company: Pierre Morel
Overview
This editor represents phase two of a three-phase software development project that encompasses both more and less than you would expect in a generic structured editing application. Morel sees the ability to edit both documents and DTDs as integral to the process of creating common document types for cross-industry searching over the Web. Phase one produced the Proto lightweight forms generator and phase three will address a general query/retrieval mechanism.
Users can select a Java ("Metal") interface or a Windows or Motif interface. And the editor is internationalized for French and English. (Which gives the casual reader of M. Morel's site their only clue to the physical location of the company, that and a Quebec copyright.)
Typical Applications: Metadata for Web-based search and retrieval
Availability: The editor was written with the Sun Java Development Kit version 1.1.6 and is available for download to users with the JDK or with a compatible browser or in a zip file with all required components (zip file is over 4MB).
