I feel that WSDL + SOAP is one of those situations where I think to myself, "Can anybody see how ridiculous and poorly thought-out this stuff is?" but reserve my thoughts amongst the go-go technology bandwagon culture in which I am immersed. Typically, a couple of years pass until articles start claiming that indeed, this stuff smacks of archaic, convoluted, and poorly designed technology. I think that this will happen here (in an evolutionary sense.
In the meantime, M$ (and now IBM) sling enough FUD over existing superior (but politically incorrect) technologies (CORBA - RPC and messaging, IMO) that these monoliths profit and the consumer and developers lose. In the meantime, I work late hours yet again on this latest round of technology (ugliest ever) so as to maintain my applications' abilities to ocnverse with the rest of this unecessarily complex world.
