Thanks for the good summary article. I was at the conference and also noted the presence of Government people and government contractors (in the audience also.) However, it is/was not that remarkable to me and I think it had less to do with the slow commercial economy than it did with the Federal CIO intiatives that have mandated incorporation of XML in new government systems. I had not noticed the "subdued atmosphere" in the expo hall, but looking back now I see your point. BTW, Washington DC is South of Baltimore, not north of it.
Bill: Many thanks for the comments. I tried to refer to Baltimore's proximity and location to Washington, but it did not come out quite as I had hoped. However, you can see why I take public transportation whenever possible. AK
