In the article the option of using XSLT to express rules based constraints on structure of schemas, with xPaths to compliment the constraints expressed in the metaschema. Schematron [1] provides a simpler strucure in which to express such xPath constraints. The schematron rules can be embedded into the metaschema, allowing both approaches to be combined.
