Interoperability Summit: Good Intentions, Little Action
Subject: Beyond XML

You report that Sandra Dinetz said that "the industry needs to be prepared for any new technologies beyond XML."

You also report that "Eric Cohen of XBRL talked about his fantasy where a piece of business information can be entered anywhere in a supply chain, flow into a company's general ledger, then be reported out in any form needed by the company or its trading partners."

The question is, How open is the industry to new ideas? I have developed a standard of standards beyond XML that delivers all that Eric Cohen is dreaming about but find it extremely difficult to get anyone to even look at the idea.

Having worked in this area for the past 12 years I can tell you for certain that neither XML or Web services is the final answer that you are looking for. The industry however must establish a way however for new ideas to come through, if you want to achieve your goals.
