What a great read! (The author evidently likes movies) XML.com articles like this are a complete relief when one gets worn from google returning a dozen intro to SMIL web pages. This one gets on with it and has a use-case based approach that captures the implementation subtleties of such a new browser technology. No more 'what can we do with SMIL?'. This is all about 'how you can do it with SMIL'.
I also appreciate the authors desire to bridge the two SMIL user camps (techies/designers). There is a ways to go, and advocacy such as this sure helps!
BTW be patient on the example downloads!
