Needs a good amount of time and hardwork to make it touch the skies of flash. Although it is helpfull in making smaller documents than flash.

  I understand your concerns, and this is mostly due to the fact that there is no tool as advanced as Macromedia Flash or Adobe LiveMotion that allows SVG export today. However, these should appear soonish as SVG is being embraced by more players in the Graphics industry. But strictly based on SVG's capabilities, it is definitely a strong(er) option when it comes to Web animated vector graphics. The learning curve can only get smoother as tools keep on popping up.
