 Introducing OpenSearch

Uche,

Always a pleasure to read your articles. In the aerospace industry, many companies contribute to the technical information that is needed to maintain and operate an aircraft. Each company has its own content repository and updates don't get to the field (pilots and technicians) in a timely manner.

There is a need for solutions that allow cross-repository aggregation (for federated searches) as well as cross-repository observation. A RESTful approach based on ATOM and OpenSearch will prove to be a simple and massively scalable solution for the industry.

This is what I call RESTful IDEAS (Integrated Documentation Environment for Aircraft Supprt).

I think this could revolutionize many industries, and I hope we start to see more of this scalable thinking where it counts. As I say, the mantra for the agile age should be "No one ever got fired for architecting like Google"

    I googled IDEAS and found

I haven't worked much in Aerospace myself, but from all I've heard it's an industry badly in need of RESTful approaches to SOA. Good luck promoting IDEAS.
