FIX and FIXML are said to be widesprade now and with FIX 5.0 its been called to be mature. But unlike any other technology its still hard to get idea of the archetecture of exact place the FIXML/FIX engine resides. Open source engine can just provide a software but to design a solution and integration is very hard.
