Trying to wed the ambiguity of language to precision is and will continue to be the holy grail of W3C and others. Where precision is most needed is inside the firewall where executives are trying to get their arms around the problems of their organizations to make strategic, mission trade-off and legally defensible decisions. Where employees need access to all the knowledge of their jobs, tasks and projects to make accurate and timely decisions to maintain competitive advantage. Since logic by its nature precludes machine learning, and language insures ambiguity, it is doubtful either XML, RDF or OWL will conquer precision. What is needed is a revolutionary architecture that can scale and integrate beyond conventional complexity barriers. Knowledge Foundations, Inc. is the only company I know that has that technology. Does anyone know of any others?? |
