The point of your article is about the <object> tag, but you didn't mention that in XHTML 2.0 you can say the following instead of using either <img> or <object>, which in my opinion is much easier: This is what will show up if the image cannot be displayed. The W3C did this to change "alt" to its intended purpose ... to offer descriptions of the image.
